304, 304L, 316, 316L - What are the differences among them?
• 304: Exhibits excellent corrosion resistance and can withstand corrosion from substances such as sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, formic acid, and urea. It is suitable for applications where there is minimal corrosion or no contact with materials, such as water usage, gas control, wine, milk, and CIP cleaning solutions.
• 304L: Under normal conditions, its corrosion resistance is similar to that of 304. However, in welding or high-temperature environments, due to its low carbon content, it is more resistant to intergranular corrosion.
• 316: Due to the presence of molybdenum, it has better resistance to chloride corrosion and heat resistance.
